What's included

  • Meet and greet in the arrivals hall: your chauffeur waits inside the terminal with your name on a board, not at the kerb and not in the car park, and carries your luggage to the car.
  • Flight tracked: we follow your flight; if you land early or late, your chauffeur is there. One hundred minutes of waiting from the actual landing are included.
  • Your language, confirmed in writing: English, Italian, Spanish, French or Japanese, agreed at booking and stated in your confirmation.
  • One fixed price: ¥29,500 for the Toyota Alphard to anywhere in the 23 wards, with expressway tolls, parking and fuel. Nothing is collected from you in the car.
  • The right vehicle for your luggage: the Toyota Alphard for up to four guests, the GranAce or Hiace for up to nine, the Mercedes Benz S 500 for two.

Which terminal you land at, and where you meet your chauffeur

Haneda has three terminals. Almost every international flight arrives at Terminal 3, the newest and the one farthest from the city, while Terminals 1 and 2 serve domestic routes and a handful of ANA international services. You do not need to know which: we read it from your flight number and your chauffeur goes to the right hall.

The meeting point is inside the arrivals hall, after customs, where your chauffeur stands with a board carrying your name. Stay where you come out and look for the board. The walk from the hall to the car is a few minutes; for an elderly guest or anyone travelling with a cane, say so and the car is brought to the pickup point while you wait seated.

How long Haneda to your hotel takes, district by district

Haneda is the airport closest to the city, and in normal traffic the drive is short. Shinagawa and Odaiba are about twenty minutes. Ginza, Tokyo Station, Nihonbashi and Roppongi about thirty. Shinjuku, Shibuya and Ebisu thirty five to forty five. Asakusa and Ueno about forty. The route goes over the Shuto expressway and the tolls are already in the price.

Allow more on Friday evenings and on the first mornings after a holiday, when the expressway slows, and a little more for a hotel on the far west side of the city. Your chauffeur knows the day's traffic and picks the route on the spot.

What the fixed price covers, and what happens if your flight is late

¥29,500 buys the Toyota Alphard, your chauffeur, expressway tolls, parking at the airport and fuel, from the arrivals hall to the door of any address in the 23 wards of Tokyo. The price is the same at any hour: there is no night supplement on an airport transfer, which matters at Haneda, where many long haul flights land after ten in the evening.

Your flight is tracked from departure, so an early or a late landing simply moves the pickup. From the moment the aircraft actually lands, one hundred minutes of waiting are included, which covers immigration and baggage on a normal evening. Beyond that the chauffeur is paid at the hourly rate of the vehicle in thirty minute blocks, and he does not leave: he stays until you come out or until you release him. A delayed flight is never treated as a cancellation.

Beyond the 23 wards: Yokohama, Disney, Kamakura and the coast

The fixed price covers the 23 wards of Tokyo. Past them the car comes back empty, and that empty return is what the supplement pays for: Yokohama, Kawasaki, Chiba and Saitama add ¥14,000; Kamakura and Enoshima add ¥21,000; Hakone, Mount Fuji, Nikko and Ibaraki add ¥28,000; Karuizawa and Izu add ¥35,000. You choose the area when you book and the price updates before you see it.

For the Tokyo Disney Resort, the Yokohama hotels and the cruise terminals there are dedicated pages with their own figures, linked below, since those are the journeys asked for most often after central Tokyo.

Choosing the car: four of you, nine of you, or two with the S 500

The Toyota Alphard is the right answer for most arrivals: four guests and four cases, a powered sliding door and a low step, seats you sit across into rather than drop down into. For five to nine guests, or for a family with a stroller and five cases, the Toyota GranAce or Hiace at ¥31,500 takes everything without anyone having to think about it. The Mercedes Benz S 500 at ¥48,500 is for two guests who want the saloon and travel with two large cases and two small.

Tell us how many of you there are and how many cases, and we will say which car, honestly, including when the cheaper one is the better one.

How long does the Haneda to Tokyo transfer take?

Twenty to forty five minutes to most central hotels: about twenty to Shinagawa and Odaiba, thirty to Ginza and Tokyo Station, forty to Shinjuku, Shibuya, Asakusa and Ueno. Friday evenings and holiday mornings take longer.

Which terminal do international flights use at Haneda?

Terminal 3 for almost all international arrivals; Terminals 1 and 2 are domestic, with a few ANA international flights at Terminal 2. We read the terminal from your flight number, so you do not have to.

Where do I meet my chauffeur at Haneda?

Inside the arrivals hall, after customs, holding a board with your name. Not at the kerb and not in the car park. Stay where you come out and he will find you.

What if my flight is delayed?

We track the flight and the pickup moves with it. One hundred minutes of waiting from the actual landing time are included; beyond that the hourly rate of your vehicle applies in thirty minute blocks, and the chauffeur stays until you come out. A delay is never a cancellation.

Is there a night supplement for a late arrival?

No. An airport transfer is a fixed price at any hour. Hourly services carry a night supplement between 22:30 and 06:29, a transfer does not.

How much luggage fits, and which car should we choose?

The Alphard takes four guests and four cases. The GranAce or Hiace takes up to nine guests and their luggage, and is the right car for a family with a stroller or anyone with five cases or more. The S 500 takes two guests with two large cases and two small.

Will my chauffeur speak my language, and is the operator licensed?

Yes to both. Your chauffeur's language, English, Italian, Spanish, French or Japanese, is confirmed in writing at booking. Every car is run by a fully licensed Tokyo operator with a Class 2 licence and a green plate; we never arrange unlicensed driving.
